Time to Unwind

Unwind. Refuel. Learn to live, experience, feel and love. Let it be what's not supposed to be. Don't regret. Take action. React in the momentum. Find myself Again. Be Happy.

bite the apple

This post is long overdue, but I still wanted to share it with you! I went to New York in the end of February this year. We (my bf and I) spent two amazing (and cold-ass) weeks in Manhattan and Brooklyn and wished we could experience our stay all over again. It was my second time in the city and it still felt like my very first. There is just something about this city that catches your breath and grabs you. Despite the icecold temperatures and the occasional rain-/snowstorm we didn't cringed to do sightseeings and shopping marathons. There was only one day, when it was snowing ridiculously, that we had to escape to a sheltered and warm place. We used that opportunity to spent the day at museums, which was awesome too. I think I could do anything in this city and still find it amazing in a way. I feel like I have only seen one-tenth of this city and there is still so much to discover! I will be back soon, that's for sure!

What I recommend

Things I have been loving recently...

1. Girls the hbo series by Lena Dunham
I remember watching Girls for the first time two years ago, after I read an article in a magazine about it. It was claimed to be the real "Sex and The City" and I was curious to find out more. I remember watching the first episode and seeing Lena Dunham naked on my laptop screen. To be honest, it kinda pulled me off, as I was accustomed to see perfect shaped bodies on shows like Gossip Girls or Sex and The City. I didn't know what I should think of it. Thus, I decided to return to size zero girls wearing high fashion designer clothes and sipping cocktail drinks at fancy dinner parties. Two weeks ago, I was trying to find a new tv show to get hooked on, and somehow I came back to Girls and now I'm so so glad about it. Girls is honest, funny, brilliant and refreshing. It shows life of girls in my age with all the troubles and worries included, but I didn't need to explain it to you, I guess you all knew already.

2. Death by Elocution on Tumblr
I do not know anything about the owner of this blog, whether it's a he or she, but what I do know is that this person has a really good taste in fashion, well, that's a least what I think! On Death-by-Elocution you'll find a tumblr roll of outfit photos (mostly without the face of the person who's wearing it), shoes and accessories. The outfits that are being blogged are mostly held in white, gray or black and are super casual, simple but yet stylish and cool. I think I have already loved tons of her/his photos and I always go back when I want to find some outfit inspirations for the day.

3. Cameron Diaz' Body Book
So I wasn't sure at first if I should get this book, because it had the image of a well known Hollywood Star on the Book Cover and I always think that those books don't really shine with the quality of content but more with the name of the author. So I had a longer look at it first. I read a couple of pages and I had to admit that I really liked what I was reading, so I decided to buy it and I'm happy I did. Cameron Diaz wrote this book to help Women understand their Body and give information about everything concerning Nutrition, Health and Body. She explains easily what our Foods are made of, what our Organs do with it and what our Body does with it. I'm not even halfway through, but I can already recommend it to all of you who want to know more about the consequences of bad eating habits and lack of movement and want to learn how to live a healthy and happy life.

4. 8tracks and spotify enrich my life
So I've been using 8tracks and spotify on a regular basis for a couple of months now and it seriously enriches my ear with tracks that I would have never found out about. I'm a very lazy person when it comes to discovering new things such as songs or movies. I like to get comfortable and let everyone else look out for those kinds of things. Mostly I rely on the taste of my boyfriend, but since I started to use 8track and spotify I never have to listen to the same old songs over and over again.

6. John Bakers Fruit Bread
If you live in Zurich or you're here on vacation, definitely stop by John Bakers Bakery at Stadelhofen for their freshly baked goods! Today was my second time I went there to get the Fruit Bread in order to still my afternoon hunger. I love the interior of this bakery and the freshness of their stuff! The bread was warm when I bite into it, which for me, is the definition for the perfect bread!

Hair Situation

I thought I should show you how I look like at the moment, because I have changed during the last couple of months. How did it turn out like that? Well it was a mistake and a long story. I clearly didn't want my hair to look like this, cause it's neither black nor brown and I didn't intended to have my hair dip dyed like it's 2012 all over again. And yes I lost another few inches of my hair length since my last hair update. I need to explain you my hair story from the beginning.

I think I have posted a picture of my freshly styled and colored hair in korea last summer. I had my hair turned brown there. By october of last year I decided to cut off almost 30 cm of my beloved hair and I was quite happy with it. At the beginning of this year when I spent almost two weeks in New York, I felt like I needed a change again (whenever I feel like having a change, I decide to change something about my hair). So I cut off a couple more inches at a very nice japanese hair salon in Williamsburg (picture missing). The lady was lovely and at first I really liked my new hair style. Well I was excited because I didn't remember having such short hair in my life, which was great. But after a couple of hours I realized that it may have been a huuuge mistake. So when I came back to switzerland I thought, maybe if I colored my hair, I would like it ( I had 8 cm of black hair growth in my hairline, and I thought maybe it was the reason why I hated my new look so much). So I asked my sister to help me get back to black again. And guess what... I HATED it even more. I felt even more uncomfortable with my hair. Seriously, I looked like severus snape, it was that bad! A friend of mine told me to use shampoos with high moisture, in order to wash out some of the coloration. I was extremely unhappy with my hair and I have complained weeks and weeks about it to my boyfriend and friends. But eventually I came to the conclusion, that all of the complaints wouldn't help my situation at all. I just have to live with my decision. So now that almost three months have passed, and my hair has grown a few inches, I finally dared to take some high quality pictures of myself again. And as you can see the shampoo trick my friend told me has worked... sort of.

I never thought that I would belong to those kinds of people, who would feel devastated about a haircut. I thought I was someone who could deal with it. But turns out I'm just like any other girl.

fresh start

I hope you all had an amazing new years eve with your friends, families and loved ones. I love this time of the year. I know that to some of you, this day is probably like any other day, but I really feel like it is the beginning of something new. For me it's a fresh start, an amazing chance and a challenge as well. I always like to take a moment to think about all of the things I've done and accomplished the past year but also to think about things that I failed to achieve. There are a lot of people out there who couldn't care less about new years resolutions but I kinda think it's nice to make them, but it's only great if you really stick to it and really mean it. So I've thought about a few resolutions for this year as well and I'm going to write them down in my little black book, which I'm going to stow away in my drawer. After a year I'll bring it out again and see how many things I've accomplished by then. You should do that too, because there is nothing more exhilarating than being able to ticking off things out of a list.

I just enjoyed a little bowl of greek yoghurt with some blueberries and almonds. Now it's time for me to turn off my laptop and grab a book - one of the many books that have been lying next to my book since forever. I have to remind myself to read more books again. This one will be added to my resolutions and marked with a huge exclamation mark.

Christmas Belly Stuffing

Christmas Days are over and my belly is stuffed. My sister and I made Cinnamon Buns on Christmas and they turned out quite delicious surprisingly. I always like to capture my baking skills, as I bake or cook so seldomnly. Today I spent my whole day on turning all my wide legged pants into skinny jeans. I can't believe that it took me almost eight hours to sew six pant legs tighter... but it was worth it, the pants look so nice and tight now. I never wore those because they were too wide and loose at the ankles, and there's nothing that I hate more than loose pant legs (they make my legs look shorter).

On last friday I attended  a lecture that took place at the cabaret voltaire, where the art form dadaism was born almost 100 years ago. It was a really nice place to have school in. I decided to capture bits of my day and show it to you, to make up for the lack of posts lately.
Can you feel christmas? I can. I felt so happy when I saw the swarovski christmas tree at the central station of zurich yesterday. The whole city is illuminated, can't believe it's that time of year again.

Breakfast is my favorite Meal

I would eat breakfast for breakfast, lunch and diner, if my mind would not stop me from doing it. It's my favorite meal of the day! You might know by now that I like to have a bowl of muesli in the morning because it's nutritious, delicious, keeps me full in the morning and makes me happy. Through my best friend I found a new muesli recipe which I'm gonna share with you now, wether you're interested or not. It's my blog and I can post whatever I want! :)

You'll need:

  • Oatmeal (I like to fill it up to one third of the bowl)
  • grounded hazelnuts (1-2 tbsp)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 apple
  • handfull almonds and walnuts
  • cinnamon (3-4 tbsp)
  • a drizzle of maplesyrup
Directions:
  1. Fill Oatmeal, cinnamon and grounded hazelnut to your bowl and add boiling water, blend it until it gets lumpy
  2. Make slices of banana and cubes of apple and add it to the bowl
  3. add your almonds and walnuts
  4. add maplesyrup
  5. Enjoy your muesli

Milano you're way too beautiful

The beauty about living in a small country in the middle of Europe is the short distances between my country and amazing cities like Paris, London, Berlin or Milan. It never occured to me that I could take quick trips to another city in the middle of a school term, when my friend suggested we could visit Milan for the weekend. I spontaneously agreed and was happy to be spending some time apart from school. We stayed at an appartment we found through Airbnb at Porta Romana, which is quite central and very near to all the important places we wanted to see anyway. Apart from walking miles and miles for shopping we also strolled around the River Navigli Grande, which is an absolutley must-go when you're visiting Milan. There are a lot of bars, restaurants and independant shops along the river, that are definitley worth a visit. Milan is so beautiful, I never would have guessed, because to be honest, I was never really interested in visiting this city. But this was now my second time in Milan and I would definitley go back once again.
