You are what you Eat

This was my last photography project I did at the art foundation, which ended on last friday. The subject of this project was "Food" and I decided to take the sentence "you are what you eat" and convert it into visual pictures. I think the photos say it all. And yes, my heels are very dry and need some serious treatment, I got it, thank you.

Drawn

I get excited over things easily. But there are two things, that excite me most: Fashion and Art, or as the Blogtitle says: things that are "drawn" and things that are "sewed" (I should've explained the name in the beginning, but better late than never). I think I've shown you that I like Clothes, but it has been ages since I last posted something about art, or my art. Actually I don't consider my own work as a piece of art. I just take a pen and draw something, it's not a big deal like I don't plan what I draw and it doesn't bother me that much if my drawings turn out ugly. For the most part I enjoy looking at art. But I thought it might be interesting for you to see what I do or did in the past couple of months, since I've been visiting an art foundation for almost a year now.
As you can tell, my favorite motives to draw are hair and faces. Drawing Hair is so soothing to me. When I'm working on a realistic-ish piece it can sometimes take hours until I'm done with it. I'm a slow drawer, I like to take my time. While we're on it, I passed the exam and got accepted to the Art School of Zurich. I got the letter a few days ago. I was so happy about it and I wanted to jump for joy, but I couldn't because of my bruised toe. Anyways I'm so relieved and now I just can't wait for summer to come.

Lollipop

this is a video that I made at the beginning of this year. We had a whole week to film and edit this. I might come off a little childish and dumb, as two of my teachers told me, but I just wanted to create a fun and easy little clip.

CLOSER LOOK

Some additional photos of my little paperdress. Because I've worn it so many times, the edges of the collar part has turned a little brown, because of my make up, haha. 

Today I realized how bad my english has become due to lack of speaking throughout the last three years. It's really frustrating to me, because to be honest, I wasn't so bad at it when I graduated high school. I figured that watching english movies and tv series won't prevent your brain from forgetting the words and grammar. And don't even get me started on my french. There's nothing left of it apart from bonjour and aurevoir.

I think I have to consider a language stay in the future, to refresh my speaking ability before it even gets worse. 

PAPERDRESS

I made a top out of paper at school this week. I'm not hundred percent sure about the outcome. I wanted it to turn out quite fitted, but it's a little hard to make paper work as fabric. I really like how it looked in the beginning, when I only attached the shoulder part to the middle section of the whole thing. It reminds me of origami which continued to be my inspiration throughout the whole development of the dress. I might have to lose the braided part at the collar, my bf said it looks like something the women in the middle age would wear, which is so typical for him to say. 

I wanted it to be something I would wear personally, but now it looks like something a pregnant thirty-eight year old swedish person would wear. I think I'm being a little hard on myself, keeping in mind it's just a dress made out of paper.  

LIGHT AS AIR

First post in 2013! I'm working on my art portfolio and I made these photos this morning. I played around with the exposure time on my camera and I used my beloved Paint Shop Pro to change the color scales. You can't actually see it, but my left half of my mouth and nose were and are still completely numb from my dentist appointment this morning. It feels so strange when I touch my mouth, like it belongs to someone else.

BACKSPACE

At school I got the opportunity to shoot a short video using a simple videocam. I had the idea to make a video using the reversing tool. I've always wanted to create such a clip and I always enjoyed watching music videos, that had reversed scenes. Two classmates and I decided to name the video "backspace". I'm pretty content with the result, keeping in mind that we were only given two days to finish the project. The next day after I made this video I had serious neck pain from all the hair whipping and head shaking.

TO BE INSPIRED

These are three drawings I did at drawing class in school. Do you recognize the face in the third drawing? Yeah, it's me gazing into space.

 

Right now I'm at home scribbling things for my art portfolio, which has to be done by mid february. My head feels blank, I got no inspiration at all (I know it says "always inspired" in my profile box, I lied). And also I have been trying to develop my own style of drawing. I failed until now. 

BUT I'm positive, because I heard that it needs time to figure it out and it won't happen overnight. And often other people are the first to see it, because it's always hard for a person to look at his or her own drawings/paintings in an objective way. So my goal for the time until february is to discover my own style and not growing desperate on the way finding it.

un, deux, trois

I did this drawing slash collage a while back. It was the first time that I created something like this. I guess I wanted it to look like a postcard or just random doodling.

modern rapunzel

One of my favorite pieces that I drew a while back. I love drawing the hair details, as you can see. I drew the face and all with various pencils and the background with watercolor. All the drawings that I've shown you so far, were part of my portfolio for the application to an art school.

townhouse

There is a lack of posting going on here. I've been enjoying the weather these days, as it has become sunnier and sunnier each day.
Anywho, I wanted to post this drawing that I made a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoy drawing with a fineliner, as you can see. It's supposed to be some townhouses in stockholm or so. I saw a picture on tumblr and got inspired.

hands

Ever since I saw a picture of a woman with metallic golden nails on tumblr, I've been on the search for the right exact nail polish that the woman had on her nails. But I never knew that it wasn't a nailpolish but nail foils that I had to look for. A few weeks ago I took notice of the foils through a friend, so I rushed off to the city to get them. I sticked them on today, and I think it's pretty cool.
I also drew Frida Gustavsson today. It took me the whole day to draw her, and I'm not even finished. I guess I just get distracted a lot.
